- Databases for health care and public health

Met ingang van 2009 is Anton Vedder benoemd tot voorzitter van de wetenschappelijke adviesraad van de interuniversitaire, KNAW-erkende onderzoeksschool Ethiek - Sociale Dimensies van Privacy
Op de valreep van 2008 kende NWO een subsidie van meer dan 500.000 euro toe aan Anton Vedder en Beate Roessler voor een onderzoeksprogramma naar de sociale dimensies van de waarde(n) van privacy. Het onderzoek omvat sociaal wetenschappelijke en meer filosofische onderdelen.

Opleiding
Anton Vedder promoveerde op 23 november 1995 aan de Universiteit van Utrecht. Zijn proefschrift, "The Values of Freedom", ging over de rol van het vrijheidsbegrip in de recente filosofische theorievorming en enkele actuele maatschappelijke discussies. Voorheen studeerde hij wijsbegeerte, geschiedenis, theologie en Duits in Utrecht, Leuven en Groningen. In Leuven studeerde hij met een beurs van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap en het Leuvens Universiteitsbestuur.
Carrière
Vanaf 1996 is Anton Vedder verbonden aan de Universiteit van Tilburg. Voordien werkte hij als docent en onderzoeker bij de Erasmus Universiteit (1992-1996) en de Universiteit van Utrecht (1988-1992). In het schooljaar 1987-1988 werkte hij als leraar aan het Katholiek Drents College te Emmen. Voorafgaand aan zijn studietijd in Leuven, werd hij in 1985 vanuit de Universiteit Utrecht als wetenschappelijk assistent voor een kortlopend project gedetacheerd aan de Université Catholique de Louvain te Louvain-la-Neuve. Tijdens zijn studies aan de Universiteit van Utrecht werkte hij lange tijd als student-assistent.
